Hintergrund
Jede Gesellschaft folgt einer logischen Struktur, die festzulegen scheint, wie wir sind, was wir tun und worüber wir sprechen. Der Performance-Workshop Körper // Sprache // Archiv, der 2017 wieder durchgeführt wird, startet vom 17. bis 25. Juli 2017 in der Region Lika, Kroatien. Er zielt darauf, mit performativen Mitteln in diese Struktur einzugreifen bzw. die Möglichkeiten dieses Eingreifens auszuloten. Das Themen-Spektrum liegt dabei buchstäblich und metaphorisch verschüttet: die Minenfelder, die Erfahrungen der Gewalt, die Sprache des Hasses. Hinzu kommen die Transformationsprozesse der Region im Zuge des EU-Beitritts.
Seit einigen Jahren gibt es in den Staaten des ehemaligen Jugoslawiens eine Vielzahl von Bemühungen, die Geschichte der Balkankriege der 1990er Jahre kritisch zu bearbeiten. Im Zentrum stehen dabei thematisch vor allem die Ethnisierung politischer Konflikte in den frühen 1990ern und die vorherrschende Geschichtspolitik der Gegenwart. Der Workshop Körper // Sprache // Archiv knüpft konstruktiv an diesen thematischen Ansatz an und widmet sich vor diesem Hintergrund den Fragenkomplexen von Diskriminierung und eliminatorischer Gewalt in Vergangenheit und ihren Spuren in der Gegenwart.
Arbeitsweise
Wir laden im Juli 2017 wieder vierundzwanzig Teilnehmer*innen aus Deutschland, Polen und Staaten des ehemaligen Jugoslawiens zu einem 8-tägigen Performance-Workshop nach Vrhovine, Kroatien ein. Der Workshop gliedert sich in drei Phasen. Zunächst werden theatrale und performative Mittel erprobt und weiterentwickelt, um die oben genannten Themenkomplexe zu bearbeiten. Anschließend geht es darum, Stoffe und Materialien zu finden und künstlerische Teams zu bilden, die jeweils gemeinsam kleine Projekte entwerfen und umsetzten. Am Ende präsentieren die Teams ihre vorläufigen Ergebnisse, die dabei von Performances zu bespielten Environments bis Videoart reichen können und sowohl abgeschlossene als auch offene Projekte umfassen. Der Workshop dient insofern als Plattform, künstlerische Vorhaben anzustoßen, zu entwickeln und zu erproben, die über die Dauer des Workshops hinaus führen können.
Das Projekt Körper // Sprache // Archiv richtet sich an junge Erwachsene, die an künstlerischem Arbeiten interessiert sind, und zielt neben der Themenstellung auf die Erweiterung der ästhetischen Erfahrung. Die Teilnehmer*innen werden dabei von fünf erfahrenen Theaterpädagog*innen, Medienpädagog*innen, Regisseur*innen und Dramaturg*innen begleitet.
Anmeldung & Organisatorisches
Der Workshop findet vom 17. bis 25. Juli 2017 in Vrhovine (Region Lika, Kroatien) statt. Im Herbst 2017 finden zwei Anschlussworkshops in Komprachcice (Region Opolskie, Polen) und Gerswalde (Brandenburg, Deutschland) statt, auf denen die bereits erarbeiteten Projekte weiter vertieft und entwickelt werden. Eine Teilnahme an allen Workshops ist ausdrücklich erwünscht, aber nicht zwingend. Unsere gemeinsame Sprache ist Englisch. Die Teilnahme am Workshop sowie die Übernachtung & Verpflegung sind kostenlos, allerdings erheben wir eine Anmeldegebühr von 20 €. Fahrtkosten können bis zu einer Gesamtsumme von 150 € (hin und zurück) erstattet werden.
Bitte beachte, dass wir zur Durchführung der Anmeldung den von Dir ausgefüllten Bogen bis spätestens 15. Juni 2017 benötigen.

Background
Every society follows a logical structure that seems to determine the way we are, act and even talk. The performance workshop body // language // archive will take place from 17th to 25th July 2017 again in the region of Lika, Croatia, and aims at a critical questioning of this partition through performative interventions. The range of topics is literally and metaphorically situated under the surface: the mine fields, the experience of violence and languages of hatred. And in addition, all in the light of transformation processes of that region in the course of the EU accession.
For the last couple of years there have been multiple efforts among former Yugoslavian countries to work critically on the history of the Balkan Wars of the 1990s. Thematically in center of attention are the ethicizing of political conflicts in early nineties, the current hegemonic politics of history and the role of European Union in the pacification of these same conflicts. The workshop body // language // archive follows constructively these topic approaches and at the forefront of its background deals with a set of related questions concerning discrimination and eliminatory violence in the present and the past.
Practical approach
We are inviting 24 participants from Poland, Germany and States of former Yugoslavia to an 8-day performance workshop in Vrhovine, region of Lika, Croatia in July 2017. The workshop is structured in three phases: at first the participants will try out and develop theatrical and performative techniques to deal with the above mentioned set of questions. In a second phase we build small teams who will work on a project and thus explore the topics and methods of their choice. In the end, the teams will present their preliminary results consisting in performative actions, environments or even video-art formats, which may include finished or work-in-progress pieces. In this way body // language // archive works as platform to initiate, develop and to try out concrete artistic goals that can persist beyond the duration of the workshop.
The workshop is dedicated to young adults who are interested in artistic work and aims beyond the topic to extend the artistic skills and aesthetic experience. All participants will be actively coached by expert drama tutors, media tutors, directors and dramatic advisors.
Registration & Logistics
The workshop takes place from 17th – 25th July 2017 in Vrhovine (Lika, Croatia). Two sequels to the workshop will take place in Komprachcice (region of Opolskie, Poland) and Gerswalde (Bradenburg, Germany) in autumn 2017, giving the possibility to deepen and develop further what has been already achieved. The participation in all workshops is highly recommended but not mandatory. Our official workshop language is English. The participation in the workshop as well as accommodation and catering are free, but we will need to charge a registration fee of 20 €. Travel costs can be reimbursed up to 150 € (total sum for both ways).
